ISTITUTO di MODA BURGO in USA
Founder & Director: Suna Barisik
The director Suna Barisik is a graduate of Istituto di Moda Burgo Milano. She completed her education on Fashion Design and Professional Tailoring in June 2013 in Milano with an honour degree. She is also the founder and director of Istituto di Moda Burgo Istanbul, Turkey. Now she’s bringing this education opportunity to the most historical and fashionable city in the United States: Philadelphia. Afterwards she plans to branch out to many other states as well. She’s looking forward to educating local designers, pattern makers and professional tailors and getting them ready to compete with their Italian competitors.
"Local designers with Italian-style training are on their way to the American fashion industry. We’re proud to announce that the first Italian Fashion School in the United States is opening in Philadelphia, PA. We are happy to share our 50-years-old style of Italian training with students in and around Philly. We offer all kinds of fashion training: design, pattern making, and tailoring. The education is based on intensive hands-on training, Burgo’s own educative books, and small class sizes (8 to 10 people per group, one to one mentoring). There are no entrance exams, all levels of expertise are welcome. You can choose from our more than 20 programs and levels on design, pattern making and tailoring. We welcome all students who are interested in the fashion sector. We welcome talented students and we welcome students who don’t believe in their talent."
